A companion piece for the 'Celtic Cross of Violence and Love'...
In the holy halo of the Father of All Things
The wisdom of the Single Eye (of Love).
In the regal rich receptivity of Mother Earth
The wisdom of the Forests and Sacred Solitude.
In the night,
A new dream is given…
Cosmos and Earth touch at the edge of Nowhere.
On this Pale Blue Dot, in the Great Expanses of Darkness,
My guide embraces me and points to the heavens:
“This is the Peacemaker”

I was recently contemplating the magnificent sunflower plants growing in our garden at present. The sunflower itself... so compelling in its beauty...pointing me towards the sacred circle within which all things dwell...communicating its own wondrous radiance.
The following words seem a fine accompaniment to the mandalic beauty of the sunflower.
St Francis de Sales said...
"The sun looks at a rose, along with a thousand millions of other flowers, just as much as if he looked at the rose alone. And God, though He loves a countless number of other souls, does not pour out his love upon one soul less than if He loved that soul alone, since the force of his love does not diminish according to the multitude of rays that it sends forth, but remains always full in its own immensity"
(Quoted in Mystical Flora of St Francis de Sales)
"You have noticed that everything an Indian does is in a circle, and this is because the Power of the World always works in circles, and everything tries to be round. In the old days when we were a strong and happy people, all our power came to us from the sacred hoop of the nation, and so long as the hoop was unbroken, the people flourished. The flowering tree was the living center of the hoop, and the circle of the four quarters nourished it. The east gave peace and light, the south gave warmth, the west gave rain, and the north with its cold and mighty wind gave strength and endurance. This knowledge came to us from the outer world with our religion. Everything the Power of the World does is done in a circle. The sky is round, and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball, and so are all the stars. The wind, in its greatest power, whirls. Birds make their nests in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours. The sun comes forth and goes down again in a circle. The moon does the same, and both are round. Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of a man (sic) is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves. Our tepees were round like the nests of birds, and these were always set in a circle, the nation's hoop, a nest of many nests, where the Great Spirit meant for us to hatch our children".
